Elective Guidelines

Dear 2k15 Class
Please be guided by the stipulations governing pursing electives locally and internationally:

Locally:
∙ The student will identify the supervisor for the required elective period and get their approval.

∙ Download the “Elective Registration Form” from the Faculty’s website and complete it.

The form should be signed by the selected supervisor and the Elective Coordinator (Dr. Jean Williams-Johnson in the Section of Accident and Emergency).

∙ The completed form should be submitted to the Undergraduate Affairs Office and an elective package will be prepared within 3 – 5 working days for you to submit to the Supervisor at the beginning of the elective.

∙ The student is required to collect the completed assessment form at the end of the elective period and submit to Undergraduate Affairs Office to prove completion of the elective.

N.B: The Dean’s Office does NOT consider a student to be clear to proceed on an elective until these guidelines are adhered to.


Internationally
∙ Contact the institution of interest, write to them or whatever mode of contact they indicate and get approval for the elective period in writing (The hospital of choice MUST be a teaching hospital. If you are not sure, verify their eligibility with Dr. Jean-Williams-Johnson, Elective Coordinator.

∙ Get a written approval from the institution and submit to Dr. Williams-Johnson along with the “Elective Registration Form.” This is found on the Faculty’s website.

∙ The signed Elective Registration Form along with the written approval from the hospital should then be submitted the Undergraduate Affairs Office and an elective package will be prepared within 3 – 5 working days for you to submit to the Elective Supervisor at the beginning of the elective.

∙ The student is required to collect the completed registration and assessment form at the end of the elective period and submit to the Undegraduate Affairs Office to prove completion of the elective (

Your supervisor MUST complete the required registration and assessment form before you return to Jamaica and take them back with you)
