Aim (s): There are several aims to this lab-Sessions 1 & 2

Method:  Do not write out the method, you can state “As written in the DD3MB DNA instructions Hand-out, 2010”.  Note any changes made especially in Session 2.

Results: 

1.      Sample calculations of your Genotype Frequency, Random Match Probability and Paternity Analysis-Part A (should see clear distinction of formulas used for each set of calculations)

2.      Table(s) of calculated results to include the above outcomes.

Discussion:  

• Discuss the extraction method used for your DNA preparation (draw knowledge from your forensics report)

Hint: Chelex method-steps involving use of buffer, centrifuge, boiling and incubation. Why were these steps done? Efficiency of Chelex method?

• Comment on your result of the random match probability-what does it mean?
• Comment also on the result of the Paternity Index of the case file (A)-what does this value mean? If you were to calculate (B) what would the CPI outcome be & mean?
• Can the Random Match Probability, CPI and DNA profiling be applicable? State three (should be easy)
